MICRO NUTRIENTS + MACRO NUTRIENTS – THE KEY TO TAPPING ENERGY
Do you feel as if your body is out-of-whack and drained of energy? If you do, it might be due to an imbalance in your micronutrients and macronutrients.
To solve the problem of being low on energy and in a state of weight gain, you have to understand the difference between the two. It is very important to unlocking energy and feeling good again.
Micronutrients, or sometimes called microminerals and trace elements, include at least iron, cobalt, chromium, copper, iodine, manganese, selenium, zinc and molybdenum. Micronutrients also include vitamins, and they are the organic compounds required as nutrients in trace amounts. Micronutrients feed your body’s cells. You cannot live without them. In order for your cells to produce the life-giving energy that gets you through the day, you must have micronutrients
Macronutrients are most simply described as “food”. It’s what you eat every day that is comprised of carbohydrates, lipids (fats), and protiens. They are all broken down and metabolized, or turned into energy. The carbs are metabolized a lot easier than the proteins and the lipids. They are needed to keep your organs functioning, and for the production of energy.
The problems comes in when you are getting much more of one side and not the other. When your macronutrients lack their accompanying micronutrients in your diet, you gain weight. This is the definition of what we call “junk food”. They are foods that are stripped of nutrition because of the processing they go through, and leave you with calories and no micronutrients.
The simple reason why most people lack energy and are in a state of weight gain is due to the fact that they ingest far more macronutrients than what the body needs, with very little micronutrients to match. That’s why you shouldn’t do your shopping within the inner isles of the grocery store. The inner isles are full of junk foods that have very little nutrition. The outer isles are full of meats, vegetables, and natural foods.
And don’t be fooled… just because you see nutritional informatoin on heavily processed foods doesn’t mean it’s good for you. After processing, much of the micronutrients are destroyed. The FDA requires that a minimal amount of nutrition must be added back to foods after processing has destroyed them, but food manufacturers will only put back the bare minimum, far less than what your body needs to stay balanced.
Take a close look at the foods you eat every day, and make sure that you are eating natural foods that are high in micronutrients. In addition to that, you should be on a good multivitamin supplement to make sure that you’re getting what your body needs. In this day and age, it’s absolutely necessary to supplement your food intake with vitamins because it is so hard to get the nutrition required to keep you healthy.
